I think that many of you lefties just don't believe America is a good country, and wish harm to come to it.

The issue of whether the President "lied" us into the Iraq War is settled. It was settled by the bipartisan congressional vote that authorized this war. If people like Kerry and Rockefeller are so stupid and incompetent to be fooled by such thin evidence, like the rest of the government, why don't they resign in shame for their own "failures"? Rockefeller is a bold faced liar, and is probably the enemy agent that leaked the Terrorist Surveillance Program to the New York Times. He belongs in prison, not in the Senate.

Wally Lind
Lakeville, MinnesotaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7767671.post-1169944300456517362007-01-27T18:31:00.000-06:002007-01-27T18:31:00.000-06:00Now you're just lying for dramatic effect, dan.Now you're just lying for dramatic effect, dan.DJ Drummondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11583885371076583265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7767671.post-1169937552630527102007-01-27T16:39:00.000-06:002007-01-27T16:39:00.000-06:00If Mr. Lind is going to state something as a face,...If Mr. Lind is going to state something as a face, he ought to be right about it, don't you think? Mr. Lind said there were none. He was wrong. End of story.

Or were you only looking for more right-wing "truthiness", as in your economically challenged claims about Bush's tax cuts, which have caused the poor to be poorer, the wealthy to be wealthier, and our children and grandchildren to be saddled with a birth tax?Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13178761985520264906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7767671.post-1169920688263524472007-01-27T11:58:00.000-06:002007-01-27T11:58:00.000-06:00dan, if you are trying to put the Anthrax attacks ...dan, if you are trying to put the Anthrax attacks and the SUV murders are the same scale and category as 9/11, well then you're getting pretty darn desperate.DJ Drummondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11583885371076583265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7767671.post-1169917318301012052007-01-27T11:01:00.000-06:002007-01-27T11:01:00.000-06:00DJ - Everyone, except a couple dead-enders on the ...DJ - Everyone, except a couple dead-enders on the blog fringe, but most certainly including the administration, has acknowledged that the old chemicals found were not the reason we went to war. So my point that the reason we went to war was false is CORRECT.

And, seriously, the fact that you managed to type a lot of words doesn't mean you were analytical.

Finally, Mr. Lind, what about the bioterrorist anthrax attacks after 9/11, for which no attribution has been assigned?

Plus, I thought all you right-wingers were calling that student who rammed people with his SUV an islamofascistunistic (or whatever term you guys like today) terrorist. I would only add the obvious. Becuase of President Bush, I believe, there have been no terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, since 2001.

I think this is very much due to his forward defense in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the way that defense focuses the enemy resource that have escaped his efforts, into those two counties. Other prsident might not have kept the enemy this heavily engaged, for this long, and the enemy would have had the ability to attack in America again.

The bottom line on George W. Bush, for me, is the amazing fact that there have been no successful attacks in the U.S., since 2001. With an enemy that took out 3,000 of us in one day (unequalled since WWII), not one American civilian has been killed or injured, by enemy action, within the United States. In a war you can expect military casualties, but we Americans are unused to casualties at home.

Wally Lind
Lakeville, MinnesotaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7767671.post-1169820531445769232007-01-26T08:08:00.000-06:002007-01-26T08:08:00.000-06:00Arguing with Dan is a waste of oxygen or pixels (d...Arguing with Dan is a waste of oxygen or pixels (depending upon whether the discussion is held face-to-face or electronically) because his type of sound-bite analysis is allowed to be factually sterile. If the facts contradict his view of reality ignore them or denigrate them.

Weapons of mass destruction? We found over two tons of poison gas in Iraq. Of course, according to Bush-haters those were not WMD we were looking for. They were probably "misplaced." (Right. That one is just a credible as the line "of course I'll respect you tomorrow baby." Or they were "too old." Or whatever excuse the truthiness crowd likes.

Iraq was not supposed to have poison gas. They were not supposed to use it. Yet according to some of the President's bitterest critics (Michael R. Gordon and Bernard E. Trainor in the book Cobra II) the Iraqis not only hung onto poison gas stock, but they USED poison gas against the Marsh Arabs a year AFTER the Gulf War ended. That is not a CIA evaluation -- that is what the Iraqis bragged about in documents we found after we captured Baghdad in 2003. Papers cited in an anti-Bush book that claimed the war was unnecessary.

(Mind the authors used the same type of prezel logic that Dan is so fond of to explain why Saddam Hussain having and using poison gas after 1991 was really proof that there was no WMD threat. Alice never had a more through-the-looking glass experience than I did when reading those passages in Cobra II.)

I could fill a book with similar examples. Why bother? The Bush critics will simply put their fingers in their ears and chant "Bush Lied, people died." until I quit, and then they will continue spewing the same nonsense they always have.

DJ, you hit the nail on the head. It just does not matter to your critics or to Bush's critics.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7767671.post-1169819624766545652007-01-26T07:53:00.000-06:002007-01-26T07:53:00.000-06:00Since you have to lie to say the reasons were fals...Since you have to lie to say the reasons were false, dan, the puerile and predictable failings of your retort "kinda" make the rest of your attempt at a riposte not worth addressingDJ Drummondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11583885371076583265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7767671.post-1169788689656801442007-01-25T23:18:00.000-06:002007-01-25T23:18:00.000-06:00Great post, DJ.
