Election Issues

You should not believe everything you read or hear, but it can be useful to pay attention to what issues a candidate addresses, and what they avoid.

According to Polling Report, the most important issues for Americans in June 2006 are as follows:

Iraq

Gas Prices

Immigration

The U.S. Economy

Terrorism

Other topics were mentioned but lacked significant support. For reference to the stamina of the topics, in May the top topics in order were these:

Iraq
The U.S. Economy
Immigration
Gas Prices
Health Care
Terrorism

And in March/April:

Health Care
Iraq
Energy and Gas Prices
Terrorism
Immigration

This sets out the clear field of interest for voters. The rest is simple; who is talking in detail about these issues, who is ignoring them, how are they packaging the discussion, and why?

I think Iraq and terrorism should be combined into one for polling purposes. I don't think you can separate Iraq from the broader war against terrorism any more than you could separate the Japanese and the European fronts in WWII. The fact that Iraq and terrorism are separated in the polling seems to indicate to me how successful the left has been at defining the terms under which the debate is engaged.

the liberal folly in the Courts should be a major concern as well...

i feel the Democrats, who are supposed to win something this fall, in relation to historical context, are going to be sincerely disappointed.

'U.S. Rep. Chris Cannon says his solid victory in Utah's Republican primary is good news for President Bush and those seeking a consensus on immigration policy this year.'

no doubt, immigration and border security is very important, a sincere problem, and must be addressed, but this is just another reminder the Buchanan extreme is not the Majority opinion, and lacks an attractive nature...

i noted this, because i felt it is a prime example of evidence supporting Mr. Drummond's objective insight...

the 'do nothing' mentality, because proposed legistlation isn't purely border security, seems to be entirely counter productive, and NOT the will of the American Majority.

* stubborn blindness, which leads to self destruction, is not fighting for principle, in my humble existence...

i feel Billbray's victory was also another sign some have gone way overboard.

if the 'hysteria' were to be as serious as proclaimed by many vicious pundits, i believe, the Minutemen's endorsed Candidate would have faired far better in this race in San Diego.

but the decades old problem of border control, was not created by this Administration, nor the current Republican Majority...

some factors more influential, (in my opinion), are the amazing health of this Economy, the mindless positions of the Democrat alternative (such as tax increases-open borders-surrender in the GWOT).

* and the knowledge most true Republican Conservatives have been working in our best interests, especially supporting a fine President waging a difficult War against Radical Muslim Militants...
